Amber Hayes will make her big screen acting debut in Cowgirls N’ Angels, opening in select theaters May 25. The movie features three of Amber’s songs, including her 2010 Top 40 single, “C’mon,” which can be heard in previews for the movie. Also included are “Always There,” a duet with Lonestar’s Richie Donald, who has a cameo in the movie, and “Right As Rain.” Amber plays a honky tonk singer in the film.

“I am so excited for this movie to finally come out!” she said. “I got to film my part last year in Oklahoma, which is where I’m originally from, so it was a big thrill for me to be near my family and friends for a few days.  Having never shot a movie before, everything was such a cool experience for me, and getting to work around people like James Cromwell and Bailee Madison was just awesome.  It’s a great, heart-warming family film, and I’m so proud to have been a part of it.  I can’t wait to see it in the theater!”

Directed by Timothy Armstrong, Cowgirls N’ Angels stars James Cromwell, Bailee Madison, Alicia Witt, Frankie Faison and Jackson Rathbone. The movie follows Ida Clayton (Bailee Madison), who joins a group of female rodeo trick riders while on a journey to find her real father.

Amber recently finished recording her sophomore album with plans to release it later this year. A few tracks are available to stream at www.AmberHayesMusic.com.  Amber is an accomplished theater performer, most notably for her role as Kathy Twitty in the 2008-2009 Conway Twitty production, “Conway Twitty: The Man, The Music, The Legend, The Musical.”

The independently produced comedy-drama, filmed on locations throughout Oklahoma, focuses on Ida Clayton (played by Bailee Madison), a rebellious young girl in search of her rodeo-riding father. During her journey, Ida connects with the Sweethearts of the Rodeo, an all-female group of riders organized by former rodeo star Terence Parker (James Cromwell). Recognizing Ida’s innate talent for trick riding, Parker recruits the spunky youngster for his lineup. To her surprise and delight, Ida is accepted wholeheartedly by her new “family,” and finds a new passion that redefines her life. Better still, she finds her new job may help her find the errant father she’s been searching for.

In addition to Madison and Cromwell, Cowgirls N’ Angels — which opens Friday in the above-mentioned states — features Alicia Witt (Friday Night Lights), Frankie Faison (The Silence of the Lambs, Meet the Browns) and Jackson Rathbone (Jasper Hale of the Twilight movies).

Up-and-coming country music artist Amber Hayes contributed three songs to the soundtrack, and makes her big-screen acting debut in the film as a honkytonk singer named Amber Grant. Her father is played by Richie McDonald, former lead singer of chart-topping country group Lonestar.

If you’re interested in taking an advance look, here is a clip from the film featuring Madison, Cromwell, Faison — and a very spirited horse.
